Finding Your Way Back to What Sets Your Soul on Fire

I've been reflecting recently on what makes me... well, me. To be at our truest form of authenticity, we have to think back: when was the last time you felt a glow unlike any other?

Then, stop. What were you doing?

I sat back watching old videos of me as a little girl, recording myself singing and writing music. In those moments, I felt truly alive. I found myself wondering what that younger version would tell me today—especially when I'm feeling like I haven't fully figured out this "purpose and passion thing" that meant everything to me as a kid.

Here's what little me would say: Passion equals love, and love comes from God. Follow what lights you up inside—that's your gift to give. So I'm taking that advice and pursuing what makes my heart shine for others.

But let's step back from all the meaningful words for a moment. Although they're true, how do you actually execute finding your true passion? How do you move from inspiration to action?

The Real Work: 4 Steps to Reignite Your Fire

1. Think back to when you were last joyous and your soul was on fire.
Really sit with this. Was it creating something? Helping someone? Being in nature? Don't overthink it—just notice what comes up.

2. Plan that thing into your calendar.
I'm serious. Open your phone right now and block out time for it. Even 15 minutes counts. Do more of whatever that thing is.

3. Embrace the small joys that reconnect you to yourself.
Go for that run. Get ice cream with old friends because it always brings those kid-like giggles. Start the passion project. Because why the heck not? You'll definitely look back and wonder why you didn't at least attempt it. And if it inspires even one person, you've accomplished the goal.

4. Go out and DO.
Make your soul shine. Stop planning and start moving.

By no means is it as easy as one-two-three, but if it's truly your passion, I bet your soul just lit up trying to figure out the next step.

And here's the thing about pursuing passion...

The Beautiful Mess of Being Human

Now, who's in a sad slump, riding an anxious high, or wrestling with a life-altering decision? Those moments are what test what it feels like to be simply, a messy and courageous human.

Isn't it inspiring how resilient we are? Coming back from the depths of failure, shame, numbness and becoming even just a little bit stronger every day. Some days are freakin hard, but I know you can push through. You’re stronger than you can even imagine.

Don’t ever give up EVER. Cry a little, then keep reaching for the end goal because YOU WILL reach it and that day where you feel better than your “just ok” day yesterday, that’s an accomplishment & that’s what you work for.

To experience how we grow, evolve, and come back stronger—there's something almost magical about the human spirit's ability to bounce back.
